Ben, Garvin and Andrew warmed up the troops fighting the weather as Ilkeston arrived.
Ethan S, Robert and Khi bolstered the numbers to two teams against Ilkeston, because no one wants to be on the side lines in this weather.
Several great games were played, as the weather delivered on what was promised. By 10:30 the rain was coming down hard, the players were suffering with cold wet hands and ball drops were increasing in frequency. One more match was played with the young players fighting bravely on.
In the driving rain and cold, the training and referee squad did us proud with Ben, Garvin, Richard, Dave “the man with the magic timing” and Andrew working hard.
It’s always fun listening to Garvin and Andrew shouting “FORWARD” 10 thousand times.
The dedication of the training team is paying off in spades with improvements week on week.

A quick thanks to Ilkeston for the games yesterday, there was some great running rugby on display from both teams despite the conditions, with the support work in particular really developing. We still have plenty of room to improve the defensive work, but given the conditions, and cold hands, on this occasion I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to the players for the missed tags… Thanks to everyone (players and supporters) for turning out on the first cold and wet Sunday morning of the season, unfortunately it won’t be the last and as such, I would advise that everyone makes sure they are suitably attired going into the more testing part of the season – Thanks, Ben
