This Sunday we visited Dronfield and had a really fun session thanks to their coach Chris, from RuggerEds. He kept the kids entertained and enjoying the session from the very start. Dronfield had slightly fewer numbers and under age so it was decided that a joint training session would make up for it. If that is what the sessions are like then they will have no problem in recruiting some more players in time for the return visit to Chesterfield in Feb 2020!
The games were great fun and I think I will pinch some to take back to Chesterfield. Please ask your child, what their favourite game was? Why do they like it? How could they change the game to make it easier/harder? If you get any good answers, please let me know so we can share with the group. I certainly think if there are games the kids really want to play (that look like Rugby!) then we will incorporate them into training (which is one reason Bulldog is used so much!).
It was nice to see the kids sat on the table afterwards together, and starting to make friends with their team mates - long may that continue!
Thanks to all the parents for braving it this morning, it looked like it might be bleak but in the end the sun came out!
I'll post again towards the weekend with some plans for training on Sunday 13th - we'll be back at Dunston. See you then
