Chesterfield Panthers made the coach journey to play Midlands 5 side Aldridge, which on paper should have been an easy fixture. Panthers, because of road diversions arrived at the ground late, with little time to warm up.And this certainly reflected on the way they started the game. They where totally out of sorts. Poor passing, bad ball handling and a lack of cohesion for the first quarter of the opening half made the outcome of the match ominous.
Even playing as poorly as they did Panthers where more than capable of winning the game. A string of impressive tackles and good rucking by the hard working Ricky Poulter appeared to stir the Panthers on.Rob Collins marshalling the back line and captain Malc Wellor instilling some urgency into the pack produced the required results.
Aldridge worked hard but where unable to cope with the pace of the Panthers back line.
David Simms,Richard Cooke and Rob Collins scoring with ease, sub Kyle Gambols adding the last within seconds of coming on the pitch. Ant Barnett as usual kicked with great accuracy and added 6 points from conversions.
In all a good result for the Panthers and great credit to Aldridge for the way they played the game.
Thanks to Sutton RFC who played hosts and looked after us extremely well.
Last but not least a big thank you to the ref who had a great game!!!!
