Chesterfield Panthers 22 Mosborough 1st XV 10
T: Callum Draycott, Jack Short, Luke Cocking
C: Luke Cocking x2
P: Luke Cocking
On a lovely Saturday Afternoon, Mosboro travelled the short distance over from the wrong side of the border to take on the panthers. The Panthers had been warned about their big and aggressive pack, and they didn't let themselves down.
The first try came from Callum Draycott from close range after a series of good work from the forwards. Mosboro replied straight away with an identical try in the corner both teams failed to add the extra's.
With both teams having the fair share of posession with no results, and excellent defending from both sides, the teams went in at half time 5-5.
Again both sides started to find a few gaps and it was Chesterfield that made it tell with some fantastic support for Jack Short to run in under the posts, Luke Cocking adding the extras, and Luke scoring a similar try a few minutes later and adding the extras to his points tally. Some really good defensive tackles by Chesterfield, an error by the referee allowed Mosboro a line out on Chesterfield 5m line, mistake or not by the referee, it was a lovely kick by Mosboro to get into that position, and Mosboro who were far better at the lineout than the Panthers, threw short caught and set up a short rolling maul, which was well deserved.
A fantastic game, played in the right spirit and ref'd well by Neil Willets, well done to both sides and the best of luck to Mosboro for the coming season.
man of the Match was awarded to Jack Short
