Panthers draw with local rivals

Captain rich keeling won the toss opting to play uphill in th first half- taking advantage of the hill drony put in a deep kick fielded by winger tye rose with space to run into he cut infield supported by fullback phill cawthorne but a mix up with the pass allowed ex Panthers player Luke cocking to intercept and run in to score. Drony piled on the pressure looking for a second score testing the Panthers stretched defence on several occasions and to be fair the next score coming against the run of play ant Barnett putting in a peach of a crossfield kick for winger tye rose to score. This was the tonic the Panthers needed gaining the upper hand and the next score - hooker Lee Whitmore taking the return ball from his own lineout throw to run in from 20m. Despite this dronfield were gifted a try on the stroke of half time from another mistake from the Panthers allowing them an easy score.

The half time team talk was about playing with the advantage of the slope despite this drony scored two converted trys within 15 minutes the second of which was a great team try and certainly deserves a mention! At this stage we had to step up or risk loosing the game the guy up stepped up and took the game to the opposition was Lee Laughton supported by great rucking from the pack Lee was gaining big yards on every carry one such bull like run left him with the drony full back old father time himself andy file to beat andy showed all experience to make the tackle on the advancing freight train but could do nothing about the support run and pop pass to pedders scoring and converting his own try! The next score was again the Panthers - the phases started to build moving the defence right then quick ball left to create space the killer pass being delivered from ant Barnett timing the pass to perfection to put tye rose in for his second try pedders converting from a tight angle to level the scores. The last 10 mins of the game put drony on the back foot but despite several close calls they held out for the draw.

Great entertaining game lads and on reflection fair result credits to goose and his gaggle of players up at drony for being part of it , playing in the right spirit and joining us in the joint photo which was testament to the entertaining game delivered by both teams.

7 Josh 2nd cousin once removed hardy - getting better every game unlucky to pick up an injury
8 captain keeling - some big Carrys from the big man unlucky not to score from the two scrums !!!!!!!!!!!
9 dan pay your fines Wilson -caused constant problems for the opposition
10 - hardon pedley - one try two conversions second one excellent enough said
11 - try rose - two well taken trys deserved more!!!!!!!!!

13 - Sam Martin - solid in attack and defence unlucky to get an early injury
14 - Jake kebab Blair - not a lot of ball to show his attacking menace but chased well turning defence into attack
15 - lip - dangerous when he joined the line awesome defence
16 - Lee bellend Laughton - absolute game changer when he came on
17 - Jedi - the little pocket rocket is a bundle of power improving the scrum when he came on another massive 3rd team contribution
18 - Ben just -in - another massive contribution from the 3rd team covering for early injury
19 - paraliny - yet again a 3rd team lad covering for an early injury and not a backwards step
20 - clitris greenham after scoring 3 trys in 3 weeks for the 3rds deserved his place on the bench sorry you didn't get on mate
