In what was to be a pulsating game chesterfield took the lead with a penalty from iain taylor 3-0, then spent most of the first half under pressure but managed to keep the opposition out with some very good defending to keep it 3-0 at HT, then in the second half it was one way then the other with no team managing to break through until the 70th minute when the visitors broke through the line so at 3-7 long eaton thought they had won the game, but back came chesterfield with some good handling to get scott widdowson under the posts with iain taylor converting 10-7 but
with 2 minutes to go chesterfield paid the ultimate price in making some wrong decisions and long eaton got a rolling maul going to crash over 10-12 to say that the home team where gutted is an understatement,the home sides plans were disrupted when in the warm up before the game 2 players
went down injured so only had 2 replacements left, a cruel result on chesterfield who deserved better.
