This was a great performance by all the players of chesterfield to finally get there first win in the league which was long overdue and thoroughly deserved after coming so close to victories several times this season, this was to be a hard physical encounter and a very even game at times with the away team scoring first 0-5,but chesterfield bounced back with a penalty 3-5 which was the half time score. In the second half ashfield scored a try to be 3-8 up in the 60th minute, and chesterfield kept ashfield out with some brilliant defending and then in the 76th minute scott widdowson finished off a lovely move to score a try in the corner after a good run down the blindside of a ruck to suck ashfields defence in from lee laughton which was then passed down the openside, which in turn created the overlap for scott widdowson to score a try in the corner to make it 8-8 with the conversion to come which was brilliantly converted from a tight angle by iain taylor to had to his first half penalty kick to complete the win, could not give a man of the match to any player has the whole team had played so great from start to finish, well done to all now lets push on for the rest of the season lads.
