Panthers too strong for travelling Mellish

Saturday 6th April
Chesterfield Panthers 2nd XV 50 Mellish 3rd XV 12
T:Phil x3, Bruce x2, Jordan, Danny, Steve A,
C: Iain x 5

Panthers 2nds were forced to play at Meadows school with the 1st playing at home, it must have been the nice warm weather that brought out a horde of players, but Chesterfield had enough players to lend Mellish 3 players and still have spares. The game started very quick with try from Phil on the right, Phil then scored again, Iain converted, with the main share of the possession going to Chesterfield they saw lots of ball, but Mellish for some reason kept giving the ball away, and this allowed Bruce to run in two tries with Iain converting one try.
half time 24-0
Chesterfield swapped some players around and lent Mellish some of the stronger players to even up what was an entertaining game, running up hill little Jordan danced around several defenders to score under the posts, Iain duly converted, Phil then scored his 3rd try of the game, Iain again converted, Danny then got in on the act as a flying winger to score in the corner.
Scott W then got changed and went to play for Mellish at this stage and started to look dangerous for them breaking tackles and Mellish got their reward with a try under the posted scored by Scott which was converted.
Mellish then got the ball wide and ran in another well deserved try which brought the loudest cheers of the game by the supporters. Steve Allen just back from hot climes got in on the act by scoring under the posts and Iain converted.

Well done to Mellish for playing the game in the right spirit and kept going to the end.
Panthers 2nds last home game of the season, one away game to play now at Notts Casuals.

man of the match was 3 try hero Phil C, many thanks to all the players that played fro Mellish, and the supporters.
