With Panthers first team not having a fixture it was up to the the 2s and 3s to fly the flag, and they did it in style. Able to take a contingent of 25 players was a testament to the growing availability at the club. Players like Will Stride back after injury and commitments, Terry Titley and Ant Williams returning back to the club. Along with a throng of young players and a couple of old uns, Mongy and Goughy the clubs future looks assured. Traveling to face opponents Paviors who's first team play in division one could have been a stern task! But Panthers stood firm,dominating the scrum and line outs,outstanding in the ruck and maul. Panthers first try came from man of the match Liam Charlesworth after a great off load by Ant Williams. Ant added the conversion. Assisted by Terry Titley driving him over Will Stride scored the second ,conversion missed. The powerful Connor Decosta overcame a packed defence to score, conversion missed. Scrum half Phil Cawthorne raced round a Paviors scrum ,picked up and raced down the wing to touch down,Ant Williams converted. The interval came with Panther in front 24 points to nil.
Able to use a string of replacements Panthers where always at an advantage with the home side tiring but giving every player a run out could possibly have disjointed Panthers play , but everyone slotted in. The first try of the half came from Ant Williams who also converted. Liam Charlseworth touched down and converted. Paviors to there credit never gave up and where rewarded for their effort with a converted try. Panthers roared back and James Fletcher scored. Liam Charlesworth added his third to round of a great display. The final score of the game came from the impressive Jake Blair. Final score 53 points to 7 for the Panthers An impressive display from the Panthers, with Jake Blair, Connor Descosta, James Kennedy, Phill Cawthorpe and Chris Brailsford all having good games.
