Chesterfield U11’s 5 Rotherham 5
Oh what a start to the season, there we were all revved up and no one to play! After sorting out some problems that Rotherham had the U11’s finally played a side that had already played a hard game against Chesterfield Panthers U12’s. Not letting this mixed side of U11’s and U12’s get to the team, the U11’s defended brilliantly in the first half with excellent tackling by Conner and Guy and superb kicking by Dec keeping the team out of trouble. Rotherham finally broke the deadlock and scored the first try, however persistent running by Joe Heath redeemed the score line to five all which was a fair and final score line.
Jack Large and his well organised scrum of Matt Taylor, Joe Keaveny, Charlie Yapp, Matt White and Conner Ashton helped control the game and the all girl front row; Millie, Kristina and Meg of the second half also worked well. The ever increasing speed of Bryn caused problems for Rotherham down the wing and inside centres Matthew Poole and Harry Fox and wingers Matthew Burford and Dylan were fundamental in defence.
All in all a very enjoyable game to watch which the U11’s did very well against a mixed age squad.
