Evening all,

So we've been to Dronfield before, and we've played the strength and depth of Rotherham and Dronfield, and we've been soundly beaten.

And today all we asked the lads was to take a step forward, to show them that we could put up a fight, we could equal their might and we could get in their faces. And today our lads did just that.

I asked them in the changing room before they went out in the pitch to come back in and to be proud of what they each had done. We asked them to take a step forward, put them under pressure, not to let them continue recycling the ball. We did that and more. Charlie's boot was long and accurate, our skills around the breakdown secured more ball, Owen and Briggs and Tariq and Freddie and Gabe and Theo punched through making metres, supported the at the breakdown although we didnt take advantage of the space we created and that could have framed our game differently but we took it took to them. Archie was secure at the back and made some great decisions and thoroughly crunched a Rotherfield player. Toby was accurate from the base, Reuben and Matt and Alex defended well and put the ball through hands, our defensive line could have been quicker and more determined but there was still a lot to like.

Matt S pressured from the first kick and had a couple of decent runs and Jack did a great job and defended with real courage.

Our scrum creaked a little from the start but then we dug in and persevered and our flankers, Isaac and Will, were aware of the pick from 8 and looked to keep that in check.

They thought they'd have it easy but we scrapped, their injury list mounted and we rattled them. We lost a game but we won respect, we came away as a team and we took another step forward.
