A cold and damp meet at Ashbourne, a good solid cold that gnaws at the morrow in your bones. But it is a winter game and who in their right mind wants hot weather.

Garvin, Ben and Dave ran the U8 through their paces, going through last minute passing training/ warm up exercises.
Ben dream of the “ability to pass the ball to team mates whilst running” is coming along. In a few months, I’m sure he will have them chewing gum as well. But not running out of the pitch will probably take a couple of years!

The improvement was noticed by the training crew. Garvin down to shouting “forwards” a mere 8000 times this week.

The collection of tags this week was impressive, showing that defence is coming together. But the gaps in the defensive line still needs some work.

The squad as-a-whole did the Panthers proud, with several players with Lewis, Ella, Felix, Archie and Oli completing some good solid runs, although the congratulatory smack on bum by Ella after Felix’s run was not appreciated and of course some retaliation ensued.

Some quotes from the game
Garvin “If anyone gets back to the car not muddy, I will be gutted”. Luckily by the end of the match he was not disappointed.

After Ella’s try, she informed Garvin, Cookie and Dave that her leg hurt. Garvin “You can run it off”, Ella “But it hurts!”. Cookie “But your dad would carry on playing” Ella (hands on hips) “No! He would have stopped!”

Oliver put his natural speed and movement to good use, making try’s whenever he got the ball, and lastly a quote from Garvin and Dave “Archie’s on Fire today” after run after run.

However, the quote of the day must go to Lewis, when asked why he was so eager to get back on the pitch? “So I can get another try and make it to £4:50”

Again, good solid rugby was shown by all players and I look forward to the next match against Bakewell at home on the 20/11/2016.
In true rugby weather Ben, Garvin, Richard and Dave did us proud keeping the teams going.

P.S. A quick thanks to Ashbourne for the game and the hotdogs.
