As always at this time of year the 10 o’clock meet was cold and damp. But the spirits were high for the last game of the year and, as many kids pointed out, Christmas maybe around the corner which added to the excitement.

The two Panther’s teams were ran thought their warm up with the crew.

Both the Tigers and the Panthers ran out two teams of U8’s.

The older players on both teams are starting to show sights of wanting to start full contact, and to paraphrase Ben. “Both referees had to show their full range of skill to limit any issues”, well he said something like that!

The teams are “starting to space out in their defensive and attacking lines” Dave.

“Very Entertaining match, solid support and good communication” Andrew

“Excellent play” and his hope for the future is the players need to listen a bit more. Richard

“Starting to fill the pitch” and “A great start to the first half of the season” Ben

One of the high lights of the game was when a Panther player, realised that a try had not been scored by the Tigers. Grabbing the ball, a mad free-for-all then ensued with the Panthers scoring a try.

Special thanks to all of the coaches for their continued support for the first half year, without who’s dedication none of this would have been possible.

The fearless group of staff this week were Ben, Dave, Richard, and Andrew.

After the match, the players were treated to a little Christmas party with sausages and sandwiches for all.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all.

Many thanks to the Sheffield Tigers for a great match and hospitality.

Yours Cookie (Roving Match Reporter, U8s) + proof-reading By Rachel

Thanks to everyone (parents and kids) for their efforts this season, it’s been really rewarding seeing the kids progress after a slightly tentative start to the season. A big thanks to Cookie for taking on the match reporting role, with a bit of photography thrown in as well just to keep him on his toes, much appreciated. Hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year and enjoy your two week break. I look forward to seeing you all again on 8th January.

Thanks

Ben
